Halloween XX

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man will be dressing-up as himself again this Halloween. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is a “caped crusader” working tirelessly to promote yard safety awareness and to rescue individuals from getting hurt. This is the 20th year since Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man began participating in Halloween to promote yard safety awareness, hence Halloween XX.

Halloween affords yet another fun time to share the preventive yard safety message in another unique way.  As a show of support for yard safety awareness and a tribute to all those people who have gotten hurt, including severe amputations, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man encourages both children and adults to dress-up as yard safety super heroes - a Halloween costume with a social purpose. In essence, I want to blast my yard safety message to create awareness so that people do not get hurt. Halloween is a great way for everyone to play yard safety super hero for a day.

In the Fall, individuals often use their lawn mowers to mulch fallen leaves. The slippery leaves contribute to the increased risk of a lawn mower accident. Watch out for sticks and objects hidden by the leaves as well as slippery slopes. Indeed, Halloween is yet another fun day to share the yard safety awareness.

Furthermore, the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man merchandise provides a year-round reminder of yard safety awareness.

Trilogy

Richard Mudrinich, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm), has written a trilogy of poems that together communicate the unified message of yard safety, including the advancement of his awareness and prevention themes.  The first poem "Lawn Manicure" is a haiku that focuses on the natural aspects of grass with a subtle safety message.  The second poem "Birth of Rescue Rick" is a limerick that light-heartedly introduces our yard safety super hero Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm).  The third poem "Prevent Lawn Mower Accidents" is a rhythmic poem that communicates a first-hand experience of a lawn mower amputee and crescendos to spur a collaborative effort to create awareness regarding yard accidents and to communicate a safety message to eliminate yard accidents, in particular, outdoor power equipment accidents.

Lawn Manicure (Haiku)
By Richard Mudrinich

Growing grass needs cut,
Mowers mulch blades of grass only
Creating beauty.

Birth of Rescue Rick (Limerick)
By Richard Mudrinich

There once was a man
Who was a grass-cutting fan.
He cut off his big toe
Screaming oh no!
And hence was born Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

Yard Safety Awareness (Poem)
By Richard Mudrinich

Think before you cut. It hurts!
Sometimes even blood spurts.
You go to the emergency room.
You sometimes go to the operating room.

You become dependent on the care of a medical professional.
Sometimes even congressional.
It costs everyone a lot of money.
It is far from funny.

Sometimes you yell ouch
Spending many hours at home on the couch.
After the accident things are not the same.
Life presents you with a new and different game.

Many people want to prevent a yard tragedy.
Many medical professionals work in harmony.
Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is here today
With hopes that lawn mower accidents go away.

Think before you cut.  It hurts!
Think before you cut.  It hurts!

Feet Hurt

My feet hurt every day. I had a lawn mower accident a few years ago that resulted in the partial amputation of my left foot. Consequently, my right foot has developed issues as well. I am committed to promote yard safety awareness. Also, I am a yard safety innovator. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is here today so that yard accidents go away. I want to rescue individuals, families, and institutions from experiencing a yard accident. Indeed, it is another day. My left foot still hurts. Actually, my passion for yard safety goes far beyond my personal experience and discomfort.

Yard Safety Awareness Day

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) has designated the FIRST DAY OF EACH SEASON as Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm).  I recognize that the grass grows and the snow falls year-round all around the world.  There is always a grass cut and snow removal season somewhere in the world.  The first Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm) took place on Monday, March 20, 2006 - a historical event.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) has designated March 20th(First Day of Spring) of each year as Yard Safety Awareness Day(tm).  I want to promote yard safety awareness all over the world.  Furthermore, I want to blast and disseminate yard safety educational information toward the prevention of yard accidents.  Also, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) loves to play golf.  I wish that the PGA Tour would designate March 20th as Yard Safety Awareness Day(tm).  Likewise, I wish that Major League Soccer would promote and sponsor an event on Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm), including the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Bobble Head Doll (tm) as a promotional item.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) really loves baseball.  I wish that Major League Baseball would designate June 21st (First Day of Summer) as Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm) at all MLB and NCAA ballparks, including the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Bobble Head Doll (tm) as a yard safety promotional item.  I dream of the establishment of Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm), pushing my toy lawn mower before a packed stadium and broadcasted via the scoreboard to all Major League Baseball and NCAA ballparks.  Ironically, I now have nine toes - one for each inning of a regulation professional baseball game.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) has designated September 21st(sometimes First Day of Fall) of each year as a day of Yard Safety Celebration Day (tm). Furthermore, I chopped-off his big toe with a walk-behind powered push lawn mower on September 21, 2003.  As a tribute to the birthday of the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man yard safety awareness advocacy, I have designated September 21st of each year as the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Birthday (sm).  The Rescue Rick Birthday (tm) is intended as a yard safety celebration.    Iwant to have a Yard Safety Parade (tm) to encourage individuals and organizations to showcase their yard equipment and to share their support of the importance of yard safety. Furthermore, Rescue Rick(sm) encourages people all over the world to educate, practice, and share yard safety awareness.  Also, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man(sm) loves to watch college and professional football.  I wish that both the NFL and NCAA would designate September 21st as Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm) as well.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) has designated December 21st or 22nd (First Day of Winter) of each year as Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm).  I want to promote yard safety awareness all over the world.  Whether it is snowing or grass growing, the first day of Winter calls for another opportunity to refresh and develop a commitment to yard safety.  Give the gift of Yard Safety Awarenessfor the Holiday Season.  What would Jesus do?

Yard Safety Tips

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man recommends the following compilation of lawn mower, edger, trimmer, blower, snow thrower, and yard safety tips

(sources: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Underwriters Laboratories (UL), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Home Safety Council, National Safety Council, Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, and Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man)

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Wear sturdy closed-toe safety protective shoes with slip-proof soles (never mow in your bare feet, sandals or sneakers).
  • Wear close-fitting clothing (long pants) - no capes.
  • Wear gloves.
  • Wear protective safety eyeglasses.
  • Wear hearing protection.
  • Wear a respirator.
  • Wear a helmet with face shield.

Children

  • Children should not operate a lawnmower until they are 16 years old. Also, children should demonstrate a maturity-level consistent with operating the equipment in a responsible manner.
  • Even if you believe your child is old enough to mow, spend time showing him or her how the mower works and watch to be sure that he or she can do the job safely.
  • Children should not ride as a passenger on ride-on mowers. Children on riding mowers have the potential to fall and be run over by the mower, resulting in serious injury and/or amputation of the extremities.  Riding mowers are one-person machines; never tow children in carts or trailers while mowing.
  • Children and pets should not be in the yard while the lawn is being mowed.

Preparation

  • Clear the cutting area of potential flying objects, such as stones or toys, before you begin mowing; loose objects can project out of the lawnmower and cause serious injury
  • Start and refuel mowers outdoors, not in a garage or shed; mowers should be refueled with the motor turned off and cool.
  • Never smoke when filling the gas tank.  Avoid gasoline spills (be good to Mother Nature.)
  • Make sure that blade settings (to set the wheel height or dislodge debris) are done by an adult, with the mower off and the spark plug removed or disconnected.
  • Turning the blade is extremely dangerous; it can have the same effect as pulling the start cord. Although an engine has been shut off, even a slight movement of the blade can restart the engine.
  • If you have an electric mower, unplug the power cord before inspecting or cleaning it. You could be seriously injured if you try to make repairs to live electrical components in your mower.
  • Before each use, inspect power tools for frayed power cords and cracked or broken casings.
  • Keep lawnmowers in good working order with sharp blades.  Maintenance.  Maintenance. Maintenance.
  • Never use fingers to remove grass or debris from lawnmower blades; use a stick, long handled scraper or broom handle - not your hand or feet - to remove debris in lawnmowers.
  • Do not tamper with safety release switches; do not remove safety devices, shields or guards on switches, and keep hands and feet away from moving parts. Never alter a product or remove safety features such as blade guards or electric plug grounding pins.
  • Be sure the motor is off before inspecting or repairing lawnmower equipment.

Operating Tips

  • Always read the lawnmower owner's manual for operating and care instructions. The owner's manual will provide instruction on fueling the machine and on proper use; many lawnmower accidents are preventable. Learn the controls well enough to act instantly in an emergency and to stop the machine quickly.
  • Be sure you know how to operate the equipment.
  • Always start the mower outdoors. Never operate the mower where carbon monoxide can collect, such as in a closed garage, storage shed or basement.  Always start a riding mower from the operator's seat.
  • Use a mower with a control that stops the mower from moving forward if the handle is let go. (Operator Presence Control feature)
  • Keep a firm grip on the handle with both hands at all times.  Keep the walk-behind mower flat on the ground.  Never lift the mower.
  • Never over-reach while operating a mower; it's important to keep your balance at all times.
  • Do not pull the mower backward or mow in reverse unless absolutely necessary, and carefully look for children and objects behind you when you operate the riding mower in reverse. With a push mower, it is much safer to cut the grass while walking forward, keeping the mower ahead of you.
  • Avoid mowing backward or on a slope when possible.
  • Riding mowers have the potential to tip or roll over if used on slopes or steep hills, which can result in serious injury; use caution when mowing hills and slopes. Mow across with a push mower; mow up and down with a riding mower.
  • Do not cut wet grass.
  • Electrically powered lawnmowers should not be used on wet grass. Use an extension cord designed for outdoor use and rated for the power need of your mower.
  • Do not cut grass when there is not enough light.
  • Always turn off the mower and wait for the blades to stop completely before removing the grass catcher, unclogging the discharge chute, or crossing gravel paths, roads, or other areas.
  • Never insert hands or feet into the mower to remove grass or debris.
  • Stay away from the engine cowling, as it can become very hot and burn unprotected flesh. Stay clear of hot engines. Lawnmower mufflers can reach up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Be sure the motor has been turned off before inspecting or repairing power lawn mower equipment.
  • No passengers should be allowed on a riding mower.
  • Be sober (i.e., don’t drink alcohol while operating lawn equipment).
  • Never leave a lawnmower unattended when it is running; if you must walk away from the machine, shut off the engine.
  • Utilize a robotic lawnmower.

Edger/Trimmers and Blowers

  • Edger/Trimmer:  Keeps hand and feet away from rotating parts while engine is running. Stop the engine when crossing gravel or any place where thrown objects might be a hazard.  Do not over speed the engine.  If you hit an object, stop the engine immediately. Turn it off and check for damage. Repair anything before restarting.
  • Never point the blower nozzle at people or pets. Follow local ordinance about when to use a leaf blower. Do not use very early in the morning or very late in the day. Use the lowest possible throttle speed.

Snow Throwers

  • Read the snow thrower equipment owner's manual thoroughly and understand all recommended operating and safety procedures before turning on the snow thrower.
  • Clear the intended snow removal area of potential flying objects, such as stones or toys, before you begin throwing snow; loose objects can project out of the snow thrower and hit nearby people and objects.  Be aware of objects hidden under the snow.
  • Never smoke when filling the gas tank.  Avoid gasoline spills (be good to Mother Nature.)
  • Never put your hands in the snow thrower chute for any reason.  When the snow is wet, the snow thrower chute may become clogged. When this happens, turn off the snow thrower engine and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop. Then, with a cleanout tool, clear the chute. If repair is needed, be sure to turn the engine off first and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.
  • Never allow children to operate the equipment. Keep children indoors and under supervision.
  • Never throw snow toward people or cars.
  • Never allow anyone in front of the equipment.
  • Keep the snow thrower in good working order.  Maintenance.  Maintenance. Maintenance.
  • Wear appropriate reflective clothing and footwear for the weather and activity. Avoid wearing loose fitting clothing. Wear safety glasses to protect eyes from thrown ice, stones, and other projectiles.  Keep your hair away from the snow thrower.
  • Never disable safety features on the snow thrower equipment.  Please refer to the snow thrower owner's manual for details.

Outdoor Chemicals

  • Make sure all chemicals are stored in their original containers according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Read the use and storage directions before using products.  Original labels on product containers often give important first-aid information.
  • When using harsh products follow safety recommendations, such as wearing gloves and masks.  Do not mix products together because their contents could react together with dangerous results.
  • Use child-resistant caps on dangerous products.
  • Pesticides are extremely hazardous - consider substituting non-poisonous insecticides whenever possible.
  • Store and use pool chemicals according to the manufacturer's directions, always in tightly covered original containers, in a dry place.  Keep these away from other chemicals and products.

Yard Safety Recipe

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man presents some recommended actions (aPAL) as solutions to prevent yard accidents and to promote yard safety awareness (YSA).

Awareness - create awareness regarding the frequency and severity of lawn mower accidents and recommend the implementation of preventive grass cut safety measures and procedures.

Protection - wear personal protective equipment when grass cutting.

Avoidance - hire a professional lawn service that absorbs the risk and implements grass cut safety measures and procedures - consider robotic lawnmowers.

Legislation - propose new legislation (perhaps, The Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Act) that sets the minimum lawn equipment operator age at 16 with required grass cut safety education, introduces an operator's license, launches various grass cut safety educational programs targeted at various age and occupational groups, etcetera.

Mission

The purpose of this blog is to educate and promote yard safety (tm) - in particular, grass cut and landscaping safety (tm) - and to create awareness toward the prevention of outdoor power equipment accidents.  Also, this website is a tribute to my fellow amputees.  There are over a trillion blades of grass in about 10,000 varieties around the world.  I do not want one individual to get hurt while cutting even one blade of grass.

In September 2003, I had a serious lawn mower accident, resulting in the partial amputation of my left foot.  I was sent by life-flight helicopter from my local hospital in the Sharon Regional Health System to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where I had a series of extensive surgical operations.  I want to thank all of the medical professionals for their care and talents.  Nonetheless, I have had a long road toward recovery.

Consequently, I want to create awareness regarding the frequency and severity of outdoor power equipment accidents.  I am the only yard safety advocate acting as an individual in the world.  Indeed, I am the first yard safety super hero in the history of the world.  Also, I am a green hero.  Furthermore, I am compelled to present some lawn mower safety measures with hopes to significantly minimize the occurrences and magnitudes of these costly, life-altering, mutilating, and painful events.  I want to find a cure for yard accidents, in particular grass cut accidents.  I believe that the solution partially rests in the analysis of human behavior via cognitive psychology, etc.  Nonetheless, we all need to improve.

Each year, there are over 100,000 lawn mower accidents.  Furthermore, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that hospitals emergency rooms treat more than 400,000 outdoor garden-tool-related accidents each year.  Estimates from past statistics indicate that yardwork accidents fatally injure more than 3,000 people.  In addition, the estimated medical, legal, insurance and disability costs and other expenses of these injuries are over a billion dollars each year.  I want to present preventive measures to rescue (hence, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) - a real-life caped crusader for yard safety) individuals and families from going through the dreaded experience associated with lawn mower accidents.  Eventually, I want to cover the entire spectrum of outdoor power equipment and yard safety.

Furthermore, I want to give special thanks to my motherfamily, and friends for their concern and support throughout my left foot ordeal.  I give special appreciation and gratitude for my mom, Helen Mudrinich, for her care, grace, patience, and support regarding the many tribulations associated with my lawn mower accident.

In addition, I want to provide special recognition to the Good Group Collective (tm), an extraordinary Internet community group of good people, which has provided me with much fun, inspiration, and support with respect to the Rescue Rick (sm) campaign and life in general.

Think before you cut.  It hurts! (tm)  I encourage you to heed the lawn mower safety precautions and to promote yard safety.

THANK YOU!  BE YARD SAFE!  LET THE SUNSHINE IN!  PASS IT ALONG!

Tripod the Dog

Tripod the Dog (sm) is the first yard safety (green) super hero doggy in the history of the world.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) seeks to adopt a faithful sidekick – a three-legged dog amputee who survived a lawn mower accident. The doggy will be called Tripod the Dog. We will work together to promote yard safety. With the addition of Tripod (sm), I want to illustrate that lawn mower accidents impact animals as well. The doggy amputee offers a great vehicle to introduce children and adults alike to the amputee community, plus Tripod is a main attraction. Furthermore, through a pet adoption, I get to save the life of a pooch that might otherwise be terminated.  Tripod will be a great dog sending a very important message about both amputees and safety.  Rescue Rick theGrass Cut Man seeks assistance from the various pet adoption organizations in helping him locate Tripod the Dog.

It is amazing how Richard Mudrinich (creator of Rescue Rick the Grass Cut ManTripod the Dog, etc.), who experienced a traumatic lawnmower accident over a decade ago, has been the catalyst and inspiration for so many green industry innovations and yard safety developments, including the inspiration for a leading green industry trade association foundation.  I have even promoted pet adoption and rescue.  Thank you!  You are welcome!

Mulch Madness

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man has coined the phrase Mulch Madness. College basketball has March Madness. Fall Yard Work has Mulch Madness. Mulch Madness affords yet another fun time to share the preventive yard safety message in another unique way. Mulch Madness kicks-off with the First Day of Fall and runs throughout all of Autumn.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man witnessed a leaf fall from a tree in his yard on the First Day of Fall. Now, there are several leaves on the ground in yards throughout the world. In the Fall, individuals often use their lawn mowers to mulch fallen leaves. The slippery leaves contribute to the increased risk of a lawn mower accident. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man cautions individuals to watch out for sticks and objects hidden by the leaves as well as slippery slopes. Furthermore, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man recommends that individuals wear personal protective equipment to improve yard safety.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man echoes the recommendations of many landscaping experts that it is good for your yard to mulch the leaves. In essence, it is nature's way to recycle. Your yard is simply an extension of the natural process. Trees around your property draw nutrients and minerals from the soil, converting those elements into new leaves and branches. The mulching mower grass clippings (benefits of grasscycle) quickly decompose and provide nutrients to keep the lawn healthy. Moreover, the mulching mower blades can easily shred whole leaves into small pieces. The mulching mower is a food processor for worms that loosen and enrich the soil. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man reminds everyone to mulch the leaves - not any body parts!

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is a renaissance yardman, utilizing various art forms to communicate his yard safety message. I want to educate and entertain everyone about the importance of yard safety. Lawn mower accidents happen in a split-second, often resulting in life-altering outcomes that sometimes include amputation. I learned this from first-hand experience when I amputated part of my left foot while cutting the grass. My life-changing lawn mower accident took place on the First Day of Fall 2003. I fell in the Fall that day. Nonetheless, I have become a leading yard safety advocate. I have made several major contributions to the Green Industry. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man strives to win the Nobel Prize!

Be yard safe! Think yard safety! Think before you cut. It hurts! Be a yard safety crusader!

Unique Glory

God has a plan for each individual. He provided each person with unique talents. Throughout my life, many people have referred to me as a real character. Furthermore, I have had several character building experiences. After my lawn mower accident, I realized that God assigned me to become a yard safety super hero. Actually, I am the first yard safety super hero in the history of the world. Every day, I seek to glorify God by promoting yard safety awareness. My unique talent is to educate and entertain individuals regarding yard safety. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is a conduit to do the work of God. I do not want other people to get hurt. Think before you cut. It hurts on many levels.

Bobblehead Bobble Head Doll

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man really enjoys baseball. I wish that Major League Baseball would designate June 21st (First Day of Summer) as Yard Safety Awareness Day (tm) at all MLB ball parks, including the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Bobble Head Doll (tm) as a yard safety promotional item. I dream of pushing my toy lawn mower before a packed stadium and broadcasted via the scoreboard to all Major League Baseball parks. Also, I have created a commemorative Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Bobblehead Doll for the World Series. Ironically, I now have nine toes - one for each inning of a regulation professional baseball game.

Lawn Mowing Footwear

Richard Mudrinich is the founder and inventor of the first-of-its-kind lawn safety footwear and gear, including the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Yard Safety Footwear™. "I am the first yard safety super hero in the history of the world. Furthermore, I am the first person in the world to invent garden grass landscape landscaping lawn mowing turf yard safety footwear specifically targeted for the landscaping experience. I conceived these ideas, especially the yard safety footwear, after chopping-off part of my left foot with a walk-behind power push lawn mower while cutting the grass,” shares Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

“I was inspired to invent my yard safety footwear immediately after my yard accident. While in the hospital recovering from several surgeries as a result of my severe lawn mower accident, I made a life-commitment (divine inspiration) to yard safety awareness. In the hospital bed, I conceived the concept of the first-of-its-kind yard safety footwear and gear in order to prevent yard accidents from happening to other people and animals. Since I cut-off part of my left foot, I focused initially on designing and developing the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Yard Safety Footwear™. My focus then expanded to design Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Yard Safety Gear™ to protect other parts of the body. These personal protective equipment items are yard safety insurance products and promote preventative medicine as well. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ will donate to educational and charitable purposes,” shares Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ has received a divine direction (patent) from God to continue to promote the concept of yard safety footwear. He recognizes that other individuals have taken his idea as their own. He wishes that those individuals would acknowledge that Richard Mudrinich (Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™) is the inventor of yard safety footwear. Furthermore, there are some individuals who exhibited unethical, unprofessional, and maybe illegal behavior with regards to private discussions, especially involving some federal (government officials, small business development centers, etc.), federal affiliated (SCORE), commercial organizations (patent attorneys), non-profit organizations (hospitals, business development organizations, etc.) that exist to help an entrepreneur development his idea into a business, including protecting intellectual property. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ cautions entrepreneurs about approaching these organizations, especially with regards to intellectual property. In essence, the entrepreneur feeds these organizations ideas that are then distributed and exploited beyond the entrepreneur. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ was exploited by organizations established to help (not exploit) entrepreneurs. Indeed, there are now several new entrants into the yard safety footwear arena. Also, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is the source of other small and large corporations entering the yard safety footwear business. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is the source of new footwear applications by recent entrants into the lawn safety footwear market, including existing safety footwear. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is disappointed in these individuals and organizations, especially those acknowledging that Richard Mudrinich is the father and inventor of garden grass landscaping lawn mowing turf yard safety footwear. Richard Mudrinich wants some credit and compensation for acting as the catalyst of a new niche yard safety marketplace. "Throw the yard safety super hero a bone," requests Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is a caped crusader and yard safety super hero working tirelessly to prevent lawn mower accidents and to promote yard safety. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is a renaissance yard man utilizing various art forms to communicate his safety message. “I want to educate and entertain the general public regarding the importance of yard safety. Lawn mower accidents happen in a split-second, often resulting in life-altering outcomes that sometimes include amputation. I learned this from first-hand experience when I amputated part of my left foot while cutting the grass,” shares Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™. “Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is here today so that yard accidents go away.”

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is a yard safety awareness conduit for the betterment of mankind. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ wants to create awareness regarding the frequency and severity of lawn mower accidents and to promote preventive measures to rescue individuals and families from the dreaded experience associated with yard accidents. Each year, there are about 100,000 lawn mower accidents. Furthermore, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that hospital emergency rooms treat more than 400,000 outdoor garden-tool-related accidents each year. Estimates from past statistics indicate that yardwork accidents fatally injure more than 3,000 people. According to Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man, "Think before you cut. It hurts. I encourage you to heed the outdoor power equipment safety precautions and to promote yard safety!"

I am the #inventor of the #lawn #yard #footwear concept. I was the primary #caregiver of my #mom for over 15 years; I could not advance my concept. In the meantime, several corporations and a few startups have created yard shoes. I am looking for kindred spirits who will help make my footwear vision a reality. #RIPMom #RRtGCM

Mowing Gear

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) designs and develops grass cut safety gear™, including the Rescue Rick Grass Cut Safety Footwear™. In particular, Richard Mudrinich (Rescue Rick) is the first to conceive, design, develop, and build the first of its kind grass cut safety footwear. I conceived these ideas, especially the grass cut footwear, after chopping-off part of my left foot with a push mower. While in the hospital looking out over the Pittsburgh skyline, I made a life-commitment to do whatever I can to prevent yard accidents from happening to other people and animals. Since I cut-off part of my left paw, I focused initially on developing grass cut footwear. I am the first person in the world to conceive footwear specific to lawn mowing and yardwork - especially involving outdoor power equipment. In essence, I am living the life of a yard safety super hero. I want to rescue people and animals from getting hurt. Thus, I have designed grass cut safety gear and armor™. In addition, Rescue Rick (sm) proposes the creation and establishment of yard safety display centers™ wherever outdoor power equipment is sold and serviced.

Courage Award

The Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Courage Award (tm) was established in 2005 to recognize the contributions of an amputee who has demonstrated courage that has made a lasting impact. The award was established in honor of my Aunt Rosiland Mudrinich, who died on Christmas Day 2005. Aunt Roz underwent the amputation of her left leg four inches below the knee in mid-December 2005 despite a history of heart ailments. Aunt Roz was a glamorous person. Also, she reminded me of the importance of the phrase Carpe Diem (Seize the Day). While she was in the medical clinic recovering from surgery and starting rehabilitation, I received a phone call from my relatives asking me to give my aunt an uplifting phone call. I proscrastinated with the intention of giving her a call a few days later. She died before these "few days later" ever happened. Aunt Roz reinforced the importance of living in today. She was very courageous and made a lasting impact on many people. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man learned the importance of promptly taking action.

In addition, I give special mention to my Bubba Victoria Mudrinich and my Grandad Homer Snyder who demonstrated significant courage with respect to their leg amputation experiences.

If you want to nominate a candidate for the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Courage Award (tm), please let me know.

Chi Energy

Chi energy is all of the energy of the universe around us. In three manifestations Heavenly, Earthly, and Personal Chi, it is the stuff of life itself. All three together comprise Universal Chi. Other cultures have called it different things such as Ki (Japanese), Qi (Chinese), Ruach (Hebrew), Great Spirit (Native Americans), Life Force (New Age American), and Spirit (Celtic). All things that exist contain some part of this energy. It is the energy that causes molecular motion thus demonstrating its existence in everything.

It is important to maintain optimal Chi energy while grass cutting, leading to the prevention of yard accidents. It is important to prepare for your grass cut session by utilizing mental imaging and by channeling your Chi energy toward achieving a safety grass cutting experience.

Think before you cut. It hurts. (tm)

Forgiveness

"It is important to forgive one another. Life is too short. Some day, you will run out of gas. Forgive today."
