Babette

I developed a passion for disabled and challenged persons at a young age. As a child, I had a dog named Babette who developed a condition called "floating kneecaps." In essence, her kneecaps would slip out of place, and she would drag her legs or walk only on her front paws. Furthermore, Babette had a very sweet personality. She loved everyone. Furthermore, I reached out to Babette recognizing some of her physical limitations and admiring her many positive characteristics. Unfortunately, Babette was killed by a car during a visit by one of my relatives who let Babette out to get some fresh-air. I did not learn about this until it was too late. It was a very sad day because Babette embodied a spirit of innocence and love for all animals and people. Babette was a wonderful little doggy.

After my lawn mower accident, I had a series of surgeries to care for the partial amputation of left foot. Often times, I thought about my little brave doggy Babette who made such a profound impact on everyone who met her. I gained some inspiration and strength from that little doggy.

In the spirit of Babette, I have developed a passion for disabled persons and disabled animals. Actually, I am now a disabled person. Citizen Kane had Rosebud. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man had Babette.

Tripod the Dog

Tripod the Dog (sm) is the first yard safety (green) super hero doggy in the history of the world.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) seeks to adopt a faithful sidekick – a three-legged dog amputee who survived a lawn mower accident. The doggy will be called Tripod the Dog. We will work together to promote yard safety. With the addition of Tripod (sm), I want to illustrate that lawn mower accidents impact animals as well. The doggy amputee offers a great vehicle to introduce children and adults alike to the amputee community, plus Tripod is a main attraction. Furthermore, through a pet adoption, I get to save the life of a pooch that might otherwise be terminated.  Tripod will be a great dog sending a very important message about both amputees and safety. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man seeks assistance from the various pet adoption organizations in helping him locate Tripod the Dog.

It is amazing how Richard Mudrinich (creator of Rescue Rick the Grass Cut ManTripod the Dog, etc.), who experienced a traumatic lawnmower accident over a decade ago, has been the catalyst and inspiration for so many green industry innovations and yard safety developments.  I have even promoted pet adoption and rescue.  Thank you!  You are welcome!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the third Monday in January each year. Dr. King was a promoter of non-violent social change. Like Dr. King, I believe in servant leadership; I have a dream also. In particular, I want to rescue people from experiencing yard accidents. Yard accidents do not discriminate. They happen to all people regardless of their race, color, religion, creed, or national origin. Each year, there are 100,000 lawn mower accidents and 400,000 outdoor garden-tool-related accidents. It is time for some more behavioral and social change. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) wants to make a contribution toward the elimination of yard accidents. It seems like people really do not care much about yard safety awareness until it is too late. Nonetheless, I have a dream too. I cannot wait to give my Nobel Prize acceptance speech to validate my yard safety message. Think before you cut. It hurts. Be yard safe. (tm)

Snow Thrower Safety

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man shares some snow removal tips while using Snow Throwers below:

Read the snow thrower equipment owner's manual thoroughly and understand all recommended operating and safety procedures before turning on the snow thrower.

Clear the intended snow removal area of potential flying objects, such as stones or toys, before you begin throwing snow; loose objects can project out of the snow thrower and hit nearby people and objects. Be aware of objects hidden under the snow.

Never smoke when filling the gas tank. Avoid gasoline spills (be good to Mother Nature.)

Never put your hands in the snow thrower chute for any reason. When the snow is wet, the snow thrower chute may become clogged. When this happens, turn off the snow thrower engine and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop. Then, with a cleanout tool, clear the chute. If repair is needed, be sure to turn the engine off first and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop.

Never allow children to operate the equipment. Keep children indoors and under supervision.

Never throw snow toward people or cars.

Never allow anyone in front of the equipment.

Keep the snow thrower in good working order. Maintenance. Maintenance. Maintenance.

Wear appropriate reflective clothing and footwear for the weather and activity. Avoid wearing loose fitting clothing. Wear safety glasses to protect eyes from thrown ice, stones, and other projectiles. Keep your hair away from the snow thrower.

Never disable safety features on the snow thrower equipment. Please refer to the snow thrower owner's manual for details.

KEEP THE SNOW WHITE. NO RED SNOW! BE YARD SAFE!
