NFL Draft 2016

NFL Draft 2026 in Pittsburgh

The NFL Draft 2026 started today, Thursday 23, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

I applaud the City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh region on putting on a phenomenal event along with several fantastic sideshows throughout the region.

I wish that all the teams and players find the best fits for their needs.

I wish that someone would draft Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man. It has been a long 22-year journey since I created Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man, after having a lawn mower accident.  Rescue Rick is now the same age as many of the players receiving consideration to be drafted into the National Football League.

I will be sitting next to the phone waiting for my call.

Think before you cut. It hurts! Be yard safe!

Earth Day

Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is a Green Hero.

"May there only be peaceful and cheerful Earth Days to come for our beautiful Spaceship Earth as it continues to spin and circle in frigid space with its warm and fragile cargo of animate life." -- United Nations Secretary-General U Thant, March 21, 1971

Responding to wide spread environmental degradation, United States Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin called for an Environmental Teach-in or Earth Day to be held on April 22, 1970. Over 20 million people participated and it is now observed each year by more than 500 million people and national governments in 175 countries.

Earth Day proved extremely popular in the United States and around the world. The first Earth Day, in 1970, had participants and celebrants in two thousand colleges and universities, roughly ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across the United States. More importantly, it "brought 20 million Americans out into the spring sunshine for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform."

Now observed in 175 countries, and coordinated by the non-profit Earth Day Network, http://www.earthday.org/, Earth Day is the largest secular modern-day holiday in the world. (Note: Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man wishes to acknowledge Wikipedia for providing the information in italics on Earth Day.)

Likewise, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man hopes that history will repeat itself with regards to yard safety awareness. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man has given birth to Yard Safety Awareness Day. It is a celebration of yard safety advocacy, awareness, conscience, discovery, enlightenment, environment, implementation, innovation, practice, protection, solution, and zero yard accidents. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is a green hero who has a green brain. Be green!

Mother Nature is a personification of nature. Mother Nature wants to be healthy. She does not want to feel uncomfortable. Do not make Mother Nature mad. Happy Earth Day!

Yard Safety Awareness Day is the first day of each season of the year.

Be yard safe! Think yard safety! Think before you cut. It hurts!

Happy Earth Day!

Big Apple Flashback

NYC Flashback from April 2025

I was on national television in New York City both Wednesday (4/27/05) and Thursday (4/28/05) morning. On Wednesday, I started at the Today Show; the cameraman filmed me just before a commercial break. I then went to the Fox News "Fox and Friends" newscast where I stood immediately outside the studio - the side window. The guest was Jim Lehrer; I was literally five feet behind him. I was dressed as Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man and had a toy lawn mower with a golf club driver attached acting as a handle extension. After Fox, I went to the Viacom building and stood outside the entrance holding a sign that read "Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (
www.rescuerick.com)". On Wednesday night, I handed-out leaflets outside Carnegie Hall for about one-hour before the concert. Next, I stopped at the Carnegie Deli and requested that my Rescue Rick (sm) photograph be placed next to Jackie Mason, since I joined Jackie at his table at the Carnegie Deli a few years ago. Next, I strolled down Broadway (passing out leaflets) until I arrived at MTV. I stood in front of MTV and handed-out about 700 leaflets.

On Thursday, I started at Good Morning America. I did not have a ticket so I stood outside near a window. I waited about 30 minutes, and I realized that I might not get on-the-air. I went back to Fox News. The Fox News morning co-anchor, Steve Doocy, remembered me and actually said on-the-air that Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man was visiting the window again; the smoking monkey was the topic of the show. During a commercial break, I gimped over to CNN for a brief unscheduled appearance (at their window). Keep in mind, I was pushing my toy lawn mower up-and-down the Avenue of the Americas. I returned to Fox where I had a nice conversation with the Fox crew and security, who came outside the studio for a mechanical bull-riding segment. After the show, I pushed the toy lawn mower up 6th Avenue to Central Park, over to 5th Avenue, down 5th Avenue to 46th Street, over to Madison Avenue, up Madison Avenue to 61st Street, over to Park Avenue, down Park Avenue to the Helmsley Building, up Park Avenue to 57th Street, and finally to a Central Park bench to rest my pounding and throbbing foot. The Rescue Rick stroll through midtown Manhattan was a great experience for me and a eye-catching and educational experience for thousands of New Yorkers. Ironically, just a few years ago, I was walking on Park Avenue in a suit-and-tie as a Wall Street investment banker. Now, I push a toy lawn mower as a yard safety super hero with a goal to find a cure for yard accidents. I am now a renaissance yardman- that day as a street performer.

I am trying to promote yard safety awareness. I want to prevent outdoor power equipment accidents. Think before you cut. It hurts. (tm)

YardSafetyLand

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) proposes the concept of the YardSafetyLand (sm). Rescue Rick (sm) envisions that communities all over the world will establish these YardSafetyLand (sm) centers that depict a typical yard and showcase various yard hazards, including tips on following accepted best safety practices. The YardSafetyLand (sm) provides a venue where individuals and families can learn how to live and work in their yard in a safe manner. Also, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) proposes periodic safety lessons and demonstrations provided by certified yard safety experts. Rescue Rick (sm) cut off his big toe, but he still has a big heart. Rescue Rick (sm) wants everyone to be safe and have safe fun in the yard. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) believes in the benefits of YardSafetyLand (tm). Rescue Rick (sm) wants to collaborate with various organizations to give birth to the concept of YardSafetyLand (tm) and to work toward finding a cure for yard accidents (tm). Build a YardSafetyLand (tm) in your community. I do not have the financial resources of several industries and governments to execute this vision. This will be just another situation where I present the concept and other people leave me behind.

Think before you cut. It hurts! Be yard safe!

Spring Season Yard Safety

With the help of some friends, I submitted my first press release about 22 years ago as follows. I have exerted much time and effort to promote yard safety and think outside of the box (or no box).  After over 20 years, it seems like nobody really cares about yard safety, except a few, or until someone get hurts.  I apologize that I have not been more effective.

I am trying to kick-off the Spring Season with a blast of my yard safety news release, with hopes to create national awareness regarding the importance of yard safety. My goal is that there will not be any yard accidents this year, including outdoor power equipment accidents. I have pasted my kick-off news release below for your convenience.

Rescue Rick Springs into Yard Safety

Richard Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Mudrinich springs into yard safety for another season.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em."- Act ii, Sc. 5, Twelfth Night, William Shakespeare

Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider. Bruce Wayne was transformed by the tragic death of his parents. The Fantastic Four were bombarded with Cosmic Rays. For Richard Mudrinich, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, greatness came in the form of a lawn mower accident.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man (sm) is a “caped crusader” working tirelessly to prevent lawn mower accidents and to promote yard safety. “The Spring Season has arrived. Growing grass needs cut, and I want to prevent outdoor power equipment accidents. In essence, I want to blast my public service safety message to create awareness so that people do not get hurt this season,” shares Rescue Rick.

Rescue Rick (sm) is a renaissance yardman, utilizing various art forms to communicate his safety message. “I want to educate and entertain the general public regarding the importance of yard safety. Lawn mower accidents happen in a split-second, often resulting in life-altering outcomes that sometimes include amputation. I learned this from first-hand experience when I amputated part of my left foot while cutting the grass,” shares Rescue Rick.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man wants to create awareness regarding the frequency and severity of lawn mower accidents and to promote preventive measures to rescue individuals and families from the dreaded experience associated with yard accidents. Each year, there are about 100,000 lawn mower accidents. Furthermore, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that hospital emergency rooms treat more than 400,000 outdoor garden-tool-related accidents each year. Estimates from past statistics indicate that yardwork accidents fatally injure more than 3,000 people. According to Rescue Rick, "Think before you cut. It hurts. I encourage you to heed the outdoor power equipment safety precautions and to promote grass cut safety!"

Yard Footwear

Richard Mudrinich is the founder and inventor of the first-of-its-kind lawn safety footwear and gear, including the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Yard Safety Footwear™. "I am the first yard safety super hero in the history of the world. Furthermore, I am the first person in the world to invent garden grass landscape landscaping lawn mowing turf yard safety footwear specifically targeted for the landscaping experience. I conceived these ideas, especially the yard safety footwear, after chopping-off part of my left foot with a walk-behind power push lawn mower while cutting the grass,” shares Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

“I was inspired to invent my yard safety footwear immediately after my yard accident. While in the hospital recovering from several surgeries as a result of my severe lawn mower accident, I made a life-commitment (divine inspiration) to yard safety awareness. In the hospital bed, I conceived the concept of the first-of-its-kind yard safety footwear and gear in order to prevent yard accidents from happening to other people and animals. Since I cut-off part of my left foot, I focused initially on designing and developing the Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Yard Safety Footwear™. My focus then expanded to design Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man Yard Safety Gear™ to protect other parts of the body. These personal protective equipment items are yard safety insurance products and promote preventative medicine as well. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ will donate to educational and charitable purposes,” shares Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ has received a divine direction (patent) from God to continue to promote the concept of yard safety footwear. He recognizes that other individuals have taken his idea as their own. He wishes that those individuals would acknowledge that Richard Mudrinich (Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™) is the inventor of yard safety footwear. Furthermore, there are some individuals who exhibited unethical, unprofessional, and maybe illegal behavior with regards to private discussions, especially involving some federal (government officials, small business development centers, etc.), federal affiliated (SCORE), commercial organizations (patent attorneys), non-profit organizations (hospitals, business development organizations, etc.) that exist to help an entrepreneur development his idea into a business, including protecting intellectual property. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ cautions entrepreneurs about approaching these organizations, especially with regards to intellectual property. In essence, the entrepreneur feeds these organizations ideas that are then distributed and exploited beyond the entrepreneur. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ was exploited by organizations established to help (not exploit) entrepreneurs. Indeed, there are now several new entrants into the yard safety footwear arena. Also, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is the source of other small and large corporations entering the yard safety footwear business. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is the source of new footwear applications by recent entrants into the lawn safety footwear market, including existing safety footwear. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is disappointed in these individuals and organizations, especially those acknowledging that Richard Mudrinich is the father and inventor of garden grass landscaping lawn mowing turf yard safety footwear. Richard Mudrinich wants some credit and compensation for acting as the catalyst of a new niche yard safety marketplace. "Throw the yard safety super hero a bone," requests Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is a caped crusader and yard safety super hero working tirelessly to prevent lawn mower accidents and to promote yard safety. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is a renaissance yard man utilizing various art forms to communicate his safety message. “I want to educate and entertain the general public regarding the importance of yard safety. Lawn mower accidents happen in a split-second, often resulting in life-altering outcomes that sometimes include amputation. I learned this from first-hand experience when I amputated part of my left foot while cutting the grass,” shares Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™. “Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is here today so that yard accidents go away.”

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ is a yard safety awareness conduit for the betterment of mankind. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man™ wants to create awareness regarding the frequency and severity of lawn mower accidents and to promote preventive measures to rescue individuals and families from the dreaded experience associated with yard accidents. Each year, there are about 100,000 lawn mower accidents. Furthermore, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that hospital emergency rooms treat more than 400,000 outdoor garden-tool-related accidents each year. Happy Easter

He is Risen! Happy Easter!

Easter is the most important religious holiday of the Christian liturgical year, observed between late March and late April to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, which Christians believe occurred after his death by crucifixion. Christ is Risen!

I want to live in Heaven with Jesus when I die. In the meantime, I do not want to sin, and I want to promote yard safety awareness.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man BELIEVES! Thank you Jesus!

Passover

Passover is an important Jewish festival that commemorates the Exodus and freedom of the Hebrews from ancient Egypt and their safe flight across the Red Sea. Passover marks the "birth" of the Jewish nation, as the Jews were freed from being slaves of Pharaoh and allowed to become servants of God instead.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man wants to free individuals, families, and institutions from experiencing a tragic yard accident. Also, he has been passed over. Nonetheless, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man continues to promote freedom and safety.

Happy Passover!

Good Friday

Good Friday is a holy day celebrated by Christians on the Friday before Easter. It commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus at Calvary.

Special prayer services are often held on this day with readings from the Gospel accounts of the events leading up to the crucifixion. Mainstream Christian churches view Christ's crucifixion as a voluntary and vicarious act, and one by which, along with resurrection on the third day, death itself was conquered.

Jesus was crucified so that I (we) would be forgiven for all of my (our) sins. He was resurrected so that I (we) can live again in Heaven. Good Friday is Great God Friday for Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man. Jesus was and is God's plan. Good Friday is Love. Easter Day is Joy. Thank you Jesus.

Good Friday is God Friday. We are all part of God's plan. God knows all. God plans all. God rules all. God rules Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is part of His plan.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is the Thursday of Holy Week (the Thursday before Easter). It was the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with his disciples, sharing a meal with them which we call the Last Supper.

In those days it was usual for a servant to wash the guests feet on arrival. On this occasion there was no servant present and none of the disciples volunteered to do the menial task. Instead, Jesus got up and washed his disciples feet, giving them an object lesson in humility and service. In some churches priests carry out a ceremonial washing of the feet of twelve men on Maundy Thursday as a commemoration of Christ's act.

It would be great to have Jesus wash my feet. I might even be surprised to be blessed with a miracle - a new big toe. Thank you Jesus for the Atonement. Jesus suffered horribly and died on the cross. Thank you for the forgiveness and repair of my (our) sins.
