Thirty years ago, Chicago Cub centerfielder Rick Monday rescued the American flag during a game with the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. I remember Rick Monday during his days as a really talented baseball player - a great glove in centerfield and a productive stick at the plate. Actually, I now recall this incident when he rescued the American flag. That day, Rescue Rick Monday was a true Yard Safety Super Hero. He rescued the American flag. Mr. Monday instinctively shifted his focus and concentration from playing major league baseball to a patriotic American citizen. Rescue Rick Monday demonstated how important the American flag is to protect and respect. Indeed, I am trying to rescue individuals and families from having yard accidents as Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man. Like Rescue Rick Monday, I am patriotic. I love America. I support America. I would defend America, yet Rick Monday did defend America by seizing and protecting the American flag that day. Going forward with my yard safety awareness advocacy, I will now keep my eyes open for the proper care and presentation of the American flag. Furthermore, I am a huge baseball fan. I still think it would be great for Major League Baseball to showcase the importance of yard safety awareness by promoting Yard Safety Awareness Day at Major League Baseball ballparks across America. Obviously, Mr. Monday made a profound impact 30 years ago at Dodger Stadium. He will always be Rescue Rick Monday to me.
