Pallbearer

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man was honored to be a pallbearer at the recent funeral of my Aunt Dorothy. A pallbearer is one of several funeral participants (usually six) who helps carry the casket of a deceased person from a religious or memorial service or viewing either directly to a cemetery or mausoleum, or to and from the hearse which does so.

Ironically, the hearse carrying my Aunt Dorothy passed-by a lawn service worker who was grass cutting a yard near the funeral home. Then, I thought of fatal yard accidents involving yard equipment. I visualized the many tragic landscaping accidents. I thought of the thousands of fatal yard accident victims and the loss of their families and friends - at one time traveling in their own funeral processions.

Indeed, safety and accident prevention is one of the most important acts and thoughts of mankind. Safety must be a state of mind. Thinking in terms of safety is a better way to work, to play, to live, etc. Safety skills help form desirable habits. Also, safety creates an efficiency beyond the state of mind resulting in an individual doing a better job and becoming a better person. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man recognizes that yard accidents are expensive in many ways. Safety and accident prevention strives to eliminate loss.

Furthermore, the work of safety engineering must be supplemented with safety psychology through safety-minded education. Safety work demands zealous, and persistent attention - not monotonous. For instance, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man has developed an innovative renaissance yard man campaign utilizing various art forms and methods of communicating the yard safety awareness message. Also, an anxious, fearful, and worried yard worker is likely to become inefficient, dissatisfied, and ripe for an accident. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man enables good morale through his concern and support of the yard worker. Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man exudes yard safety through his constructive suggestions and positive directions, leading to a heightened sense of attention to detail and achieving the positive feeling of completing a job well-done in a safe manner.

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man really feels for the loss of fatal yard accident victims and their families and friends. At the cemetery while carrying my Aunt Dorothy, I heard a lawn mower in the distance. For a moment, I felt like a pallbearer for the many fatal yard accident victims. Once again, Aunt Dorothy was a supporter of Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man and his zany antics and creative yard safety innovations.

Also, this Sunday evening on "60 Minutes", I watched a great interview with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. It prompted me to search for more information on safety and accident prevention. I want to share a great quotation from the late Harold Hitz Burton, Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court:

"As a prevention of disease is better than its cure, and prevention of war better than victory, so prevention of accidents is better than to attempt compensation for them ... Teaching the world to be careful is a constructive service worthy of God's great of life to Man."

Moreover, Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man is here today so that yard accidents go away! Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man does not want anyone to get hurt! Be yard safe! Think before you cut. It hurts! Be a yard safety crusader!

Rescue Rick the Grass Cut Man believes that Aunt Dorothy will be with fatal yard accident victims in Heaven. I will really miss my Aunt Dorothy!
